Live entertainment has returned to Collaroy Theatre, where Northern Beaches Entertainment and United Cinemas have reinstated stage performances after more than 30 years.
Collaroy Theatre’s Long Pause Before Revival
Collaroy Theatre has hosted its first live stage performances in more than three decades. The venue, established in 1937, is recognised as the oldest operating cinema on the Northern Beaches. Northern Beaches Entertainment and United Cinemas collaborated to reintroduce theatre, music, comedy and cabaret to the site.
The first weekend of the new program featured Lionel Robinson and the Beachside Big Band. Local group Astrovan, winners of the 2024 Northern Composure band competition, also performed during the opening schedule.
Expanded Program of Local and Touring Acts
Northern Beaches Entertainment has developed a varied line-up designed to include emerging and established performers. The schedule includes music acts, acoustic sets, tribute shows, jazz performances, comedy events and family entertainment.
Upcoming appearances between November 2025 and February 2026 include Josh Keys, The Vallies, GrooveFarm, Door No. 2, the Chisel Barnes Show, a Bee Gees tribute, a country showcase and a children’s ventriloquism performance.
Additional shows extend into early February 2026 with The Silverline and a collaborative act by Allan Caswell and Ben Walker.
Community Sentiment and Local Engagement
Organisers highlight the theatre’s long-standing role within the community. The program aims to offer performance opportunities for local artists, including musicians, dancers and comedy acts, as well as pathways for young people to gain experience in lighting, sound and stage work.
