Another Mercedes–Hilux Crash at Collaroy Plateau Intersection Leaves Woman Injured

A 72-year-old woman has been taken to hospital following a two-car collision at Collaroy Plateau, where another crash involving a Mercedes and a Toyota Hilux occurred at the same intersection earlier this year.

Emergency services were called to the corner of Claudare Street and Grevillea Street shortly after 7.45 a.m. on Monday, 12 October, following a reportedly low-speed collision between a silver 2015 Mercedes C200 sedan and a white 2021 Toyota Hilux ute.

Police arrived to find the intersection blocked after the vehicles collided in a T-bone crash. The Hilux appeared to have been heading east along Grevillea Street, while the Mercedes was believed to have been travelling south on Claudare Street.

Woman Hospitalised As Socks Escapes Injury

The Mercedes driver, a 72-year-old woman travelling alone, remained inside her vehicle after the collision. NSW Ambulance paramedics assessed her condition and treated an injury to her right wrist before transporting her to Royal North Shore Hospital in a stable condition shortly before 8.30 a.m.

Meanwhile, the Hilux driver, a tradesman in his late 20s, escaped injury along with his four-legged passenger, Socks. The dog had been riding in the passenger seat of the single-cab ute and remained calm throughout the emergency response. Its owner eventually removed it from the vehicle as crews continued working at the scene.

Firefighters from Narrabeen Station cleared debris and dealt with fluid spills on the roadway. Both vehicles were left undriveable and required towing. Officers from Northern Beaches Police Area Command also conducted roadside breath tests on the two drivers, with both returning negative results.

Another Mercedes And Hilux At The Same Corner

The October collision was not the first involving the two vehicle makes at the Claudare Street and Grevillea Street intersection this year. On Tuesday, 24 February, emergency services attended another two-car crash at the same location shortly before 6.15 p.m., involving a blue 2012 Mercedes E350 convertible and a white 2018 Toyota Hilux 4WD.

An 85-year-old woman driving the Mercedes was assessed by paramedics after experiencing chest pain. She was transported to Northern Beaches Hospital in a stable condition, while the Hilux driver, a man in his 30s, was not injured.

Firefighters from Narrabeen Station also attended the earlier incident, clearing road debris and treating a fluid spill with absorbent material before both damaged vehicles were towed. The two reported collisions occurred nearly eight months apart, each involving an older woman driving a Mercedes who required hospital treatment and a male Toyota Hilux driver who escaped injury.
